Mouse Models Shaping Antiviral Vaccine Development
This webinar explores how diverse mouse models, ranging from conventional inbred strains to genetically engineered and immune-humanized and other xenograft systems, have been used to develop and refine antiviral vaccines.-
Taking influenza as our example due to the wealth of literature available, we will consider:
- C57BL/6 and BALB/c inbred strains as foundational models in vaccine testing and immunogenicity
- Genetically engineered mice expressing humanized receptors or HLA alleles that improve viral entry and antigen presentation
- Humanized immune system models, such as immunodeficient NSG mice engrafted with human PBMCs, which enable assessment of human-specific immune responses in situ that inform vaccination strategies
